Team DC is preparing for the Capital Cup and WorldPride. We are finalizing plans for games and events, a couple of Nights OUT, and many other fun events. We also are preparing for our participation in the parade and for the two-day festival, including fundraising opportunities for our member teams.

⚾️ Night Out at the Nationals

Join us for the 20th Annual Night Out at the Nationals. We are still working out more fun plans for the night and planning a supersized WorldPride version. We are happy to announce drag and trans icon, mother of all that is fabulous - SASHA COLBY - will be throwing out the FIRST PITCH.

And we are bringing you a drag show at the ballpark, as soon as the gates open. So get their early and support our local drag kings and queens in a first-of-its-kind show. We have been working on this part of the night for months and couldn’t be prouder of our work to support our community 365 days a year.

🚀 Giving Back

Special Olympics DC would like to invite volunteers to come out and support our athletes as they demonstrate their courage and determination at the 2025 Summer Games, being held from May 19-23, at the Catholic University DuFour Center. The Games will showcase the abilities of children and adults with intellectual disabilities while celebrating the traditions embodied in the Olympics movement.

SUMMER GAMES EVENTS SCHEDULE:
Catholic University DuFour Athletic Center- 600 Taylor Street, NE Washington DC
Volunteer Registration (each day): 8:30 am – 9:30 am
Volunteer Orientation: 9:30 am -10:15 am - Orientation Venue Specific (assignment)

Volunteers will assist with set-up, event logistics, competitions, scorekeeping, athlete registration, awarding, water stations, finish line escorts, teardown, clean up, and packing. In addition, volunteers are needed to serve on the Games Management Team and assist with fundraising, logistics, media, and volunteer recruitment.
A volunteer orientation will be held each day during the games. This orientation will also include a job-specific training session. No prior Special Olympics or sports experience is needed to join as each Summer Games function will be reviewed and all questions addressed.  Volunteer shifts are from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm each day.
We need the most volunteers on Thursday, May 22nd.  If volunteers are available, we encourage them to sign up for one or both dates.

  • Monday, May 19th – Soccer Teams, Soccer Skills and Youth Volleyball 10:30 am - 12:45 pm

  • Tuesday, May 20th - Youth Track Events 10:30 am - 12:45 pm

  • Wednesday, May 21st - Youth Soccer – Unified Teams/Adult Field Events 10:30 am - 12:45 pm

  • Thursday, May 22nd - Youth Field Events/Adult Track Events 10:30 am – 12:45 pm

  • Thursday, May 22nd - Break-down and Clean-Up Support 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

  • Friday, May 23rd -  Youth Track Traditional/Unified Relays

Cycling season is finally here! OutRiders is a social cycling club in Metro DC for the LGBTQ+ community. We are free to join and organize through MeetUp (https://www.meetup.com/outriders-dc-va-md/), but also have a presence on Instagram(@dcoutriders) and Strava (OutRiders). To see our full schedule of upcoming rides, join our MeetUp group. We meet at Smithsonian Metro every Thursday at 6:15pm for a 14-20 mile social-pace ride. Route changes every week and there's always a post-ride hangout! We also offer a wide variety of weekend rides: from casual, in-town social-pace rides to epic centuries in the mountains, and everything in-between. Hope to see some new faces out riding this summer!

Lambda Links is a golf club based in Washington DC and the DMV area that organizes social and competitive golf events for the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. District Wrestling is now just a Metro ride away! We've relocated our weekly practices into a new, dedicated wrestling room right in the heart of L'Enfant Plaza. Every Monday at 7pm join us on the mats for 90 minutes of fun, beginner-friendly instruction, and one killer workout, all in a safe and inclusive environment. The Atlantic Stampede Country Dance Celebration is a three-day event (June 4-6), sponsored by the Atlantic States Gay Rodeo Association. Enjoy 4 dances over 3 nights with 2 full days of dance workshops. Evening events will feature community contra, square, circle and barn dances, plus open two-step and waltz, featuring live musical performances and calling from some of the most talented and highly regarded LGBTQ+ artists in the United States.

This is a drop-in singles bowling league that will be meeting every Thursday at 7:30pm starting May 15th and running until August 9th.

The league will be held at Bowl America Shirley at 6450 Edsall Rd, Alexandria, VA 22312.

The cost is $25 per week, and is a fundraiser for the CHIT bowling tournament being held in October

CAMP Summer Bowling League

There is a summer league in Falls Church this summer that will be meeting every Tuesday at 7:30pm starting June 3rd and running until August 19th. The league will be held at Bowlero Falls Church at 140 S Maple Ave, Falls Church, VA 22046. The cost will be $23 per week and will be a 3-person team format.

We are pleased to announce that the 13th annual DCFR Pride Run 5k will take place on June 1 starting at 9:00 AM at the Historic Congressional Cemetery.
